Lang Chai Xua Fish Sauce Museum
Since there aren’t many tourist attractions in Phan Thiet itself, a visit to the Lang Chai Xua Fish Sauce Museum is a must for every traveler. This unique museum is dedicated to one of the most iconic staples of Vietnamese cuisine—fish sauce (nuoc mam). Here, you’ll not only learn about the history and traditional methods of making fish sauce, but also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an ancient fishing village where this craft first began.
The museum was founded by a Vietnamese entrepreneur driven by a desire to preserve the centuries-old traditions of nuoc mam production. Despite the rise of modern technologies and commercial factories, his goal was to shine a light on authentic, artisanal methods that have been passed down through generations of fishing families in Phan Thiet. One of the highlights of the visit is the tasting session. Guests are invited to sample different varieties of fish sauce, each distinguished by its fermentation time and depth of flavor. Van Thuy Tu Temple
One of the must-see attractions in Phan Thiet is the unique Van Thuy Tu Temple, built as a tribute to the sea gods. Founded in 1762, this temple serves as a place of worship and stands as a powerful symbol of the deep bond between local fishermen and the ocean.
According to legend, the temple was constructed by fishermen from the Thuy Tu village in honor of a whale, whom they regarded as a guardian and protector of sailors. One of its most remarkable features is the impressive collection of whale skeletons. The largest among them stretches 22 meters long and is believed to have belonged to a grey whale that weighed around 65 tons during its lifetime.
This is considered one of the largest preserved whale skeletons in Southeast Asia. Van Thuy Tu Temple remains an active place of worship, hosting regular ceremonies and festivals dedicated to “Ca Ông,” the revered whale spirit. Dino Park in Phan Thiet

Duc Thanh School
One of Phan Thiet’s most significant historical landmarks is Duc Thanh School. Founded in 1907, it became a symbol of national identity, education, and patriotic spirit during the era of colonial Vietnam. Today, the school is preserved as a museum, offering a glimpse into early 20th-century life and an important chapter in Vietnamese history.
The school was established by local patriots who supported the Duy Tan movement—a reformist initiative aimed at awakening national consciousness and transforming the education system.
One of the most notable moments in the school’s history was the time spent here by young Nguyen Tat Thanh—later known as Ho Chi Minh. In 1910, at the age of 20, he taught at the school, giving lessons in French and other subjects.
Today, the Duc Thanh building has been transformed into a museum that carefully preserves the atmosphere and spirit of that era. Visitors can explore original classrooms with early 20th-century wooden desks, a memorial room dedicated to Ho Chi Minh, and many other fascinating exhibits.
Ke Ga Lighthouse
Ke Ga Lighthouse is located about 30 kilometers southwest of Phan Thiet and is considered one of the most scenic landmarks along the coast. Built by the French in 1899, it is the oldest lighthouse in Vietnam and still serves as a functioning navigational aid to this day. The lighthouse stands on a rocky islet just off the shore, and its 64-meter height makes it the tallest lighthouse in the country.
You can reach it by boat, which is easy to rent from local fishermen, and during low tide, it’s sometimes possible to walk across a sandbar to the island. If you’d rather not plan the trip on your own, guided tours are available and often include other nearby attractions in Phan Thiet as well.
Inside the lighthouse is a spiral staircase with 183 steps leading up to an observation deck that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and coastline.
Ta Cu Mountain
Ta Cu Mountain is a scenic natural attraction located about 30 kilometers southwest of Phan Thiet. The journey takes around 40–45 minutes by car or motorbike, making it a great option for a day trip—you can book a tour via the link. The mountain’s main highlight is an impressive reclining Buddha statue, considered one of the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. Measuring around 49 meters in length, the statue is located near the summit, within the grounds of the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda.

Alternatively, you can hike up a rocky trail—just be cautious on the way down, as the path can be slippery. It’s best to visit on a weekday, as the area tends to get crowded with locals on weekends who come for picnics and relaxation.
Doi Duong Beach

It’s one of the most accessible and popular beaches in the city, located just a short distance from the town center. Phan Thiet Water Tower

Its cylindrical shape and light-colored masonry make it stand out against the cityscape. Standing at around 30 meters tall, the tower once played a vital role in Phan Thiet’s water supply system.
Although it’s no longer in use, the water tower is preserved as a historical monument. It’s especially beautiful in the evening when it’s lit up with decorative lights. Just next to it, you’ll find a pedestrian suspension bridge, making it a pleasant spot for a short walk or photo stop.
