Bird Park in Kuala Lumpur
Here the birds are free to fly and move as they please, because the territory of the park is fenced with a net located high in the sky.
Therefore, its inhabitants are almost in natural conditions. The bird park in Kuala Lumpur has become a home for more than 3 thousand birds. It is inhabited by both endemic Malaysian birds and those brought from various countries of Southeast Asia.
The park is divided into 4 thematic zones, where the first and second are huge enclosures where birds can fly freely. There you can find the crowned pigeon, which is the world’s largest pigeon species, equal in size to a turkey.
Yellow-billed storks, herons, ibises and many others also live here. In the second zone of KL bird park you can see the Nicobar pigeon, oriole and jay bird. Here you can get up close and personal with the largest bird, the ostrich, and also watch the most beautiful peacocks.
Another part of the park is devoted to the hornbills, they feel themselves pretty comfortable in evergreen trees reaching a 10-story building. Here you can find one of the largest representatives of this species, the upper part of the beak of which really looks like the curved horn of a rhinoceros, which is colored in yellow, red, orange and white shades.
Another part of the bird park in Kuala Lumpur is dedicated to parrots; more than 20 species of these bright and colorful birds live here. Unlike other aviaries, this one limits the freedom parrots flights. Some of the species here are presented in pairs.
There are species of parrots that are endangered, such as the Pesquet’s parrot, which lives in the forests of New Guinea. Another species that park specialists are working to preserve is the Moluccan cockatoo. Due to poaching and destruction of their habitat in Indonesia, their population has declined significantly.
Show and Feeding Sessions
Every day, various shows are held in the bird park; you can watch bird feeding. To enjoy this activity make sure to come to the park before 10 am in the morning.
Feeding of hornbills takes place at 11.30 am, feeding of birds in the second aviary takes place at 10.30 am, near the Brahmin lands. At 14.30 – eagles feeding, at 16.00 – storks feeding, bird shows take place at 12.30 and 15.30 in the amphitheater. Feeding parrots and ostriches from 10.00 to 17.00.

How to get to Bird Park? The first option is to take the B115 bus. It follows from the KL Central station. Or you can get to Pasar Seni metro or Kuala Lumpur electric train station.
